Description: The course is open to native speakers of English and non-native speakers of English who have reached at least 7.0 on IELTS or 550 on TOEFL or 213 computer-based Toefl. Prospective candidates should have a first degree or teaching certificate. Selection will be made on the submission of the application form, and a pre-course task. A face-to-face or a telephone interview will be part of the selection criteria. After sending in the application form, potential candidates will be sent a pre-course selection task. Alternatively this can be viewed and submitted on-line. On satisfactory completion of the task, suitable applicants will either be called for interview, or interviewed by telephone. Successful applicants will then be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit no later than one month before the start of the course. The balance should be paid upon course commencement; there can be no refund of fees should a participant be unable to complete the course.

Courses Offered: On receipt of the deposit, participants will then be sent our IALF Cert TESOL handbook. IALF has compiled this comprehensive handbook with sections about IALF, living and studying in Bali, the Cert TESOL course as well as including three pre-course tasks which we strongly advise you to work your way through as they will help you prepare for the course. Course Details: Language Awareness * the grammar, syntax and lexis of contemporary English * phonetics and phonology, the use of phonetic transcription * varieties of English Language Teaching and Learning * an overview of TESOL methodologies and strategies currently in use in "Western" and Asian" societies * classroom management, procedures and techniques, establishing and maintaining rapport * evaluation of course books and other teaching/learning materials * experience with using a range of aids such as white/blackboard, tape-recorder, overhead projector, language laboratory, video and computers * a session of practical instruction with an oral-aural bias, in a natural language unknown to the candidates Teaching Practice - Participants will: * teach a minimum of six hours minimum of observed sessions with feedback * observe a minimum of four hours of experienced teachers Projects * A Teaching Practice Journal * A Learner Profile * A Materials Assignment
