China, also known as People's Republic of China, is situated in eastern Asia. Bounded by the Pacific Ocean in the east, China has an area of 9.6 million square kilometers. It is the third largest country in the world, next to Canada and Russia.
China's borders begin about midstream along the Heilong River which is north of Mohe and stretches over 22,800 kilometers. The border reaches west to South Korea and south to Mongolia, southwest to Russia and southeast to Kazakhstan, Krygyzstan, Tajikistan. China also borders Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal and Bhutan in west and northwest and Burma, Laos, Vietnam in the south.

China is one of the countries to boast an ancient civilization and has a long and mysterious history that dates back to almost 5000 years. China’s cultural history can be traced back a group of small original tribes that have evolved into what we know of China today. Ruled by dynasties for centuries, October 1st 1949 saw the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Since then, China has become a socialist society, growing from strength to strength. Towards the end of World War II Mao Zedong founded the People’s Republic of China. The current administrative regionalization of China is made of up four municipalities (Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing & Tianjin), two special administrative regions (Hong Kong & Macau), five autonomous regions (Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Tibet, Ningxia & Xinjiang), and 23 provinces (Hebei, Shanxi, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai & Taiwan).

In China where there is vast land spanning many degrees of latitude with complicated terrain, the climate varies radically. China has a variety of temperature and rainfall zones, including continental monsoon areas. In winter most areas become cold and dry, in summer hot and rainy. In terms of temperature, China can be divided from south to north into six zones: tropical, subtropical, warm-temperate, temperate, cold-temperate, and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Temperate Zone. A major portion of China lies in the North Temperate Zone, characterized by a warm climate and well-defined seasons, with a climate well suited for habitation. Precipitation in China varies a lot from place to place and changes along with the seasons. The rainy season begins earlier in south China and lasts for a longer time, from May to October. In the north, the rainy season lasts for a shorter period of time, predominantly in July and August. In fact, most parts are rainy in summer and autumn and dry in winter and spring. The best times for traveling are spring, in May and autumn from September to October.

Beijing
Beijing means 'Northern Capital' and in many ways the name speaks for itself. It is the capital of the People's Republic of China and the capital of bureaucrats. The whole country supposedly runs on Beijing time and is supposed to speak the Beijing dialect. From here the Chinese Communist Party rules over its enormous empire while further to the south, you will find more and more free trading with new capitalists, having contributed to form the new face of China over the last decades.
Beijing has come a long way from the dusty communist capital of the seventies and eighties to a modern city with the usual high rising buildings and shopping malls. At the same time, hotel and restaurant standards have improved enormously. It may not yet be able to compete with Hong Kong or Shanghai, but in its runup to the 2008 Olympics, it is trying real hard.
Naturally, Beijing has some of the most superb examples of Chinese architecture. No other place in China offers such a large number of old buildings as Bejing. On top of that, Beijing is one of the more convenient starting points for visiting The Great Wall.

Zhuhai
Zhuhai is a prefecture-level city on the southern coast of Guangdong province in the People's Republic of China. Located in the Pearl River Delta, Zhuhai borders Jiangmen to the northwest, Zhongshan to the north, and Macau to the south.
