Job Description: Non-Profit Educational Organization Has Positions for EL Teachers in Aden and Sana?a AMIDEAST, a non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to strengthening understanding and education in the Middle East and North Africa, has positions open at its Yemen offices for TEFL/CELTA-certified teachers with Bachelor?s degrees and native or native-like English language proficiency. These positions are ideal for entry-level teachers or anyone looking to improve his or her teaching skills by working with mentors and colleagues in a guided, structured, and supportive atmosphere. Teachers work with students from a variety of ages and backgrounds. A significant percentage of our students are under-served youth who have received U.S.-government-supported scholarships. Teaching is complemented by a library, CALL lab, and multimedia-equipped classrooms.

Job Details: Teachers can expect to work four to six hours per day (two to three classes per day), five days per week. Sessions last for six weeks and there are one-week breaks between most sessions. Teacher compensation ranges from $11 to $15 per hour, depending upon experience and qualifications. A housing allowance, round-trip transportation to home of origin, and residency processing are also provided for teachers able to make a one-year commitment. Teachers must be willing to work at AMIDEAST?s Aden or Sana?a offices and be able to start by February 27, 2010. There may also be the opportunity to teach at one of our outreach sites in Taiz or Mukalla.

Job Details: With a multinational staff of approximately 30 employees and 70 teachers, YALI is operated by the Yemen College of Middle Eastern Studies (YCMES) through a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Embassy in Yemen. Eight 5-week terms are conducted annually. Classes are held daily, Saturday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:50 p.m., and supplemental learning activities are conducted on Thursdays. Facilities are located in a garden-like setting and include four buildings with 40 classrooms, a self-access multi-media lab, and a 48-station computer lab. The ESL teacher works under the direct supervision of the Academic Coordinator, teaches three (3) classes a day and remains available 2 hours per day for administrative duties.
